Abstract

Interview of the editors of the journal " Holocaust Studies: A Ukrainian focus" with the professor of the Northwestern University  (Evanston, Illinois) Yohanan Petrovsky-Shtern regarding the recent documentary film by Serhii Loznytsia "Babin Yar. Context", which has already caused a stormy reaction in Ukrainian intellectual space. In this conversation, the historian comments on the picture, its leitmotifs and ideological messages from the point of view of their historical validity, criticizes the selection of subjects and explains how the context proposed by S. Loznitsia constructs a distorted impression of the past.
